Venus from +5deg Latitude

I had an opportunity to visit a small resort island called Landaa Giraavaru of Maldives during the second week of December 2013.  Landaa Giraavaru (Lat 05o 17' N, Long 73o 6.5' E ) is one of the islands of Baa Atoll1 is about 135 k.m. north of Male, the capital city of Maldives. The nearest island from here is about 2 k.m. east.  The sky when clear was always blue to dark blue and the night sky was quite dark.  I could see Andromeda galaxy in the north and Large Magellanic Cloud quite comfortably.

This picture of crescent Venus was taken on Dec 18, 2013 at 13:34 GMT,
using Cannon 500D with Celestron 127 mm Maksutov, Exp:1/1250 sec, ISO 3200.

The picture below is the reflection of light of Venus on the sea. What appears to be a single ray from Venus going to the upper right corner of the picture is the green laser light that someone was using to point to Venus.
